A Syrian truce brokered by Russia and Turkey was under growing strain on Monday as rebels vowed to respond to government violations and President Bashar al-Assad said the army would retake an important rebel-held area near Damascus.

Assad, in comments to French media, also said his government was ready to negotiate on “everything” at peace talks his Russian allies hope to convene in Kazakhstan, including his own position within the framework of the Syrian constitution. (Source: Reuters)

Comment:

Neither Assad nor opposition will discuss implementing Sharia in Syria. Assad will discuss everything in the frame of democracy but not the Sharia. The system of democracy, the unjust system that is unable to protect the majority’s right, as had happened in Egypt, the US and other parts of the world. Besides the democracy system that Assad calls for the people to elect, will never be a fair election. He is the puppet who will follow the Master, Russia who has helped him in bombing civilian Muslims in Syria. Assad is not going to protect the Muslim land but rather will protect his own interest.

The Assad regime indeed is weak and understands that the struggle for the Muslim lands and Sharia will continue. He is willing to negotiate considering the continuous threat that his regime is facing, he could never fight alone especially after Russia has pulled out its army this year and the uncertainty of American policy under President-elect Donald Trump.

The uprising that started in 2011 initially demanded that tyrant Assad step down. The Muslims who wanted to live in their own land are now the refugee; the majorities who wanted the implementation of Sharia in Syria were killed. The media described Syria being in civil war but in reality, the involvement from the US and Russia show that this is an international conflict that couldn’t be easily ignored. It is not about Assad, but the important strategic position to the West and the threat of calling for Sharia in Syria.

So what is next for the Muslim? Syria is Muslim land and Sharia is the divine rules by Allah سبحانه وتعالى. To protect the Muslim land is the responsibility of the Ummah. The effort and struggle to implement Sharia is the obligation on each individual Muslim. The land nor the Sharia will never be protected and implemented without the Khalifah.

The Khalifah is the shield for Muslim as in the hadith by our Prophet Rasulullah ﷺ,

«إنما الإمام جنة يقاتل من ورائه ويتقى به»

“Indeed, the Imam (Khaleefah) is a shield, from behind whom you fight and by whom you are protected.” [Muslim]
