بِسْمِ اللّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ
1500 people attended the largest ever Khilafah Conference held in the Pakistani city of Peshawar on the 18th September, during the holy month of Ramadhan. The conference was one of many organised by Hizb ut Tahrir across the country, making its 2008 Ramadhan campaign one of the largest such efforts undertaken to rally the Pakistani public around the idea of Islamic unity.
Those in attendance comprised both young and old, including learned members of the Muslim community and influential local figures. The audience listened to talks on the political and religious imperative for re-establishing Islamic rule at a time when the world’s second most populous Muslim country is subject to ongoing American interference.
The speakers stressed that the Pakistani governments continued support of America’s colonial plans in the region was completely unacceptable. They exposed the Pakistani government’s actions in suppressing the rising tide of Islam as a foreign agenda aimed at curbing the global Islamic revival. The speakers told the audience that Muslims must respond by redoubling their efforts to re-establish the Khilafah state in accordance with the command of Allah سبحانه وتعالى. This solution is the only way forward to bring prosperity and stability to Pakistan and the rest of the Muslim world.
In the aftermath of the conference, Jalal Hussain, a member of Hizb ut Tahrir in the city of Peshawar, was arrested by Pakistani Intelligence for distributing leaflets. Neither his location, nor the charges against him, has been revealed. His arrest is clearly part of the wider American plan for suppressing the growing support for Islamic rule in the region.
As the Peshawar conference, and similar events held in Lahore and Rawalpindi show, the Muslims support for the call of Khilafah is growing day by day in Pakistan. This is not limited to Pakistan but part of a global Islamic revival sweeping the Muslim world.
وَعَدَ اللَّهُ الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا مِنكُمْ وَعَمِلُوا الصَّالِحَاتِ لَيَسْتَخْلِفَنَّهُم فِي الْأَرْضِ كَمَا اسْتَخْلَفَ الَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ وَلَيُمَكِّنَنَّ لَهُمْ دِينَهُمُ الَّذِي ارْتَضَى لَهُمْ وَلَيُبَدِّلَنَّهُم مِّن بَعْدِ خَوْفِهِمْ أَمْنًا يَعْبُدُونَنِي لَا يُشْرِكُونَ بِي شَيْئًا وَمَن كَفَرَ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ فَأُوْلَئِكَ هُمُ الْفَاسِقُونَ
“Allah has made a promise to those among you who believe and do good deeds: He will make them successors to the land, as He did those who came before them; He will empower the religion He has chosen for them; He will grant them security to replace their fear. ‘They will worship Me and not join anything with Me.’ Those who are defiant after that will be the rebels.” [TMQ 24:55]
